THE QUIET MAN (1952)
A beautiful little gem of a love story. Ford's tribute to Ireland. Elegant, funny and sexist in the best way possible. "Here's a stick to beat the lovely lady with." There's no way we could get away with that today. In all seriousness though, Ford really instills the importance of ritual upon the audience. There's such a strong sense of tradition and affection throughout this story. It may be simple, but you can't help but smile and get caught up in the drama, especially during the final act.
