GONE WITH THE WIND (1939)
This classic movie is old-fashioned and that completely works in its favor. It captures an era that is truly "gone with the wind." The first colored film to win best picture at the Oscars, this truly is an epic and Vivien Leigh has such presence and character, it takes an actor like Gable to stand his ground next to her. Their daring love story represents the modern age (and the modern woman) and history needs to pass by in order for our future to advance. It's both a feminist film and a humbling character study, all amidst an epic civil war. This is rare and consummate film making.
